Investing in Others

Have you been investing in anyone’s life recently? Take a look at what Linda did with some newcomers at her church:

Hi, Mark!

I just wanted to share with you something really neat! A young 15-year-old boy and his parents joined our church not long ago. They are quiet and kind of shy people. Well, I noticed the young man, whose name is Jordan, is very attentive during the preaching and is always praying at the altar. He is a very humble and grateful young man who loves to talk about God and his gratitude toward Him.

Well, a week or so ago, I got to lead a precious older lady to Christ in a nursing home (we do jail and nursing-home ministry). The preaching was about the differences between knowing about God and actually knowing Him. This woman told me afterward that she went to church all of her life, she believes the Gospel, and she knows every song in the hymnal, but she has never asked Jesus to save her soul! So, we conversed, and she prayed for the first time in her life for God to save her!! So exciting!

Well, when Jordan heard about this, he wanted to ask me a LOT of questions! I don’t think he was used to going to a church where people genuinely do soul-winning. He wanted to know things like, How do you start a conversation? What do you say when they ask questions you can’t answer? and on and on.  So, I told him I wanted him to meet someone named Mark Cahill. So, I brought him two of your DVDs (Hey Stranger and Watchman on the Wall). I must have given away my last copy of One Thing You Can’t Do in Heaven in English, but I had a copy of The Watchmen.

The next time I saw him you would have thought I had given him a million dollars! He was SO EXCITED!!! He had watched both DVDs and started reading the book. He began telling me all the neat things he was learning from Mark Cahill!

I met you years ago at a church in Jenks, Oklahoma. That’s where Jordan lives. If you ever come to Oklahoma, would you let me know? He said he can’t wait to try out all the new stuff he’s learned from you! I have a bunch of your DVDs that I will give to him, two at a time. I am so very grateful to God for you and your ministry. I believe with all my heart that God has great plans for this wonderful boy.

Till the nets are full!!!!!

Linda also sent me a follow-up to the letter above:

Hi, Brother!

Thank you so much for sending the One Thing You Can’t Do in Heaven book! I got it on Saturday, along with all the other neat things you included, like One Second After . . . and tract cards!

As soon as I got to church on Sunday morning, I waited at the spot where Jordan’s parents always park and gave him the package as soon as he got out of the car.  He was so happy! He said he wishes he could converse with you, so I said I’d give him your email and website addresses.

I was mistaken about his age he’s only 14! He passes out as many tracts as he can get his hands on. He is an active witness for Jesus Christ at school.  He wants to learn all he can so he can street preach. You will probably be hearing from him soon. He was so honored that you would give him that book. I also gave him two more of your DVDs, for a total of four so far. I’m afraid if I give him everything at once, he won’t get his homework done!

Thanks so much for all you do for the Lord!

Because Jesus deserves what He paid so dearly for,

Do not underestimate the zeal and effectiveness of a teenager who is under the power of God especially, during the days we are living through.

P.S.  The holidays are nearly upon us, and that means people will be bustling about getting ready to celebrate them. It’s a unique time of year for reaching the lost. What if you end up witnessing to a Jordan who will be ignited with the love of God to reach yet more lost souls? We can all be an example and leader to someone, even when we don’t realize we are modeling that to them.
