I was checking the schedule for an arena near me to see what events were coming up. The band Pearl Jam was coming to town, so I knew I needed to go down there and do some witnessing. I double-check the website on the day of concerts because some bands cancel for various reasons, like health issues, low ticket sales, etc.
On the arena’s website, I noticed a travel advisory. Kendrick Lamar was playing at the next venue over, which is a much bigger one than Pearl Jam was performing at. Kendrick is a hip hop and rap artist.
This meant there were going to be a ton of people downtown I could witness to, and I do mean a ton. That can be a good thing, though, because there would be lots of people to reach for Jesus!
Planting your Feet
One thing I wrote in one of my books was, “Let Satan draw them together, and we will witness to them.” Think about some events coming up in your area. You and your friends can go there and plant some seeds for our Lord.
I arrived at the first arena early in the day, as both concerts started at the same time. What a night! I’m not sure I have seen that many people in that area except maybe for the Olympics.
So I planted my feet and got to work. There is a certain spot where the people flow into both venues. It is a great spot to do the Lord’s work.
Getting to Work
When I hand out tracts out at venues like this, or really anywhere, I say, “Did you get one of these?” or maybe, “Have a great night.” Not everyone is going to the events, so that can be a good line.
I then extend the tract toward their hand, and many people take them. One guy came over to help me, and we handed out 1,500 to 2,000 tracts! There were so many people, and only a few tracts were dropped on the ground. Please pray that God will use those tracts in the lives of those people.
When there was a lull in the action, I would try and strike up conversations with people. One guy was waiting for someone who had his ticket. I started talking to him and asked him a spiritual question. He said, “I am Jewish.” I said, “So was Jesus!” Never let that question throw you. Then I said, “Do you think He is the Messiah?” That is a good question. We had a good chat. Friendly guy. He ended up taking a tract and The Second Greatest Lie booklet. I showed him the pages about Judaism, which intrigued him.
Later that evening, I was still handing tracts out and speaking to folks. A guy over on the side watched me as he waited for his friend to bring his ticket. He finally walked over and asked if he could have one of them. I handed him a What If? card. He took it and walked back over to where he had been standing. I glanced over and saw that he was intently reading the card.
When the next lull came, I walked over to him and asked, “What did you think?” Bingo. Great conversation with Mauricio. He was a Christian, and he was intrigued by me being out there reaching lost souls for Jesus. Please pray for his boldness to stand up for Jesus.
On Wednesday, we’ll continue discussing what happened at this dual concert event. Did those who said they were Christians have a heart like Mauricio’s that cares about the lost? How do massive numbers of people affect the crowd dynamics and our tactics? One thing is certain, we need to get to work reaching the lost with the time we have!
Until the nets are full,
