While I was in line at a store today, I noticed that the guy in front of me had a tattoo on his leg. It was one of those “sleeve” tattoos that covered a large area of his skin. So, I tapped him on the shoulder and asked, “What is that tattoo that you have got?” Remember, people love talking about the ink they have put on themselves. So, let them talk!
One of the pictures was of Malcom X and another was of Muhammad Ali. Seeing those, I knew where this conversation was probably going to go. And, of course, I was 100 percent wrong!! Above those was a picture of his grandparents.
I said, “Malcom X and Muhammad Ali are both dead. That means what happens when we die has to be more important than just our life down here. What do you think happens when you die?” He then let me know that one of his grandparents had also passed over to the other side.
Interestingly, he had just started taking his faith seriously again! He started going back to church a few weeks ago. We had a really nice give-and-take. I bought the items he was going to buy, and he was very grateful.
He told me that his life had been going so much better since he was getting serious about God again. I warned him that trouble could also be coming his way and quoted the following verse to him:
2 Timothy 3:12
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Then he mentioned that he had been fired recently. And, literally, thirty minutes later, he received a phone call with an offer for a new job that was a better job with better pay! He was excited and thanked God for that!
He said that he enjoyed reading and took a book and a booklet.
Go and seek out a person with tattoos today. I guarantee that you will have one interesting conversation!! And, it might take you in some places you didn’t expect!
Until the Nets are Full,
