What a Day! -2024

Aug 29, 2024

I decided to go vote a few weeks ago. As I was walking out from voting, one of the ladies said, “I was hoping you would come today. I wanted to ask you something.” That led to a 30-minute conversation about Sean Combs, the allegations against him, and the video that showed him assaulting his girlfriend. The conversation took some interesting turns, but this verse from the book of Numbers was key:

Numbers 32:23

But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

Sean needs Jesus. It’s just that simple.

After voting, I prayed to go to the right restaurant and have the right waiter or waitress. Kia, the restaurant manager, “comped” my meal. Kia is now my favorite manager of all time! Maybe she can get me a car one day, too?

Whenever I’m eating out, I try to pick up someone’s tab and give my server a nice tip. I wanted to give Micah, my waiter, a nice tip, but my tab was $0 because Kia “comped” my meal. So, I really wanted to pick up the tab for one of his tables.

I decided to buy the meals for two ladies. Only one problem: they didn’t have any food! They only had a couple of drinks. I let them know that Jesus said it was more blessed to give than receive and that I always try to pick up a meal for someone when I’m out. They agreed with that.

I ended up sitting with Paige and Paris in their booth. We had a really nice conversation. Then Paris mentioned, “I saw you reading your Bible over there, and I want to ask you a question.” Do you ever hear that from people? And do you tend to know what they are going to ask before they even ask it? This was one of those situations! It’s actually kind of fun because you know what’s coming next. Paris said, “I would like to know your opinion on homosexuality.” I knew she was going to ask that question. How do you think I knew that?

Then, a little bit later, she said, “I want to ask you one other big question.” Remember, I told you it was a great conversation, but I also knew what was coming next this time as well. And I guessed correctly. How did I know that? She asked, “What color do you think Jesus was?”

I told them that they asked some good questions, but that I’ve heard them all before. Paris misunderstood my comment to mean that I wasn’t going to answer her question, so she asked it again. Then Paige explained to her that I was going to answer her question and that all I was saying was that I had heard that question before.

And after I answered her question, I told them that the key isn’t the color of Jesus’ skin; the key is whether or not His blood can wash away all our sins.

If you do enough witnessing, you’ll hear all the same questions from people again and again. Why? There is nothing new under the sun. Nothing.

So make sure you do enough witnessing to get repeat questions. Why? You won’t fear any question that anyone asks you. Either you can answer it or you can say, “I don’t know.” But it is always nice to be prepared to give an answer for why we know Jesus is the right answer.

1 Peter 3:15

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Until the nets are full,

P.S.

P.P.S. Brian and his witnessing group are always busy about the Lord’s business. They want to make sure they are a blessing to the lost, wherever they are. When they hit the streets, they are ready to engage the lost. They make sure to be stocked up with good, strong gospel materials! On this day, they were handing out books and booklets. And when they sit down in a restaurant to refuel, they make sure to bless their servers! Remember, when hitting the streets, you want to make sure you are loaded up with tracts and booklets! Way to go, Regeneration Ministries!
