I just had the craziest encounter. I went to a gas station and saw a guy walking around. I asked if he was okay or if he needed anything. He was kind of hesitant around me. He seemed a little erratic or flustered, but I wasn’t sure which. You kind of meet all kinds of people at gas stations.
Then I said I would pay him to put gas in my car. I do that every now and then to kind of let some people earn a blessing. It gives me time to chat with them. He agreed to do that.
He stated that his wallet and phone had just been stolen. Seemed legit and explained why he was a little jumpy. He didn’t seem to be on drugs.
I noticed his tattoos and asked him which was his favorite and why. That is a very easy way to get into a conversation.
Well, he pointed to one tattoo on his arm. It was a prism, like we used to see in school, but it was made into a cartoon character that had eyes. The arm was pointing back at the prism with a gun and was basically committing suicide. Out the other side of the prism came the rainbow of light that you see when light goes through a prism. He let me know that it didn’t have anything to do with the gay agenda. Isn’t that amazing how certain things can be hijacked and begin to take on completely different meanings? The character also had a blood red teardrop from one of his eyes.
So I just asked what he thought happened when he died. He said, “I hope something better than this.” We were off and running!
We ended up going deep. I walked him through the Ten Commandments and the gospel. He grew up Catholic, which wasn’t helping him at all. I explained that it was the blood of Jesus, and His blood alone, that could wash away His sins.
Revelation 1:5
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
We figured out that we were born in the same county in Jersey! Kind of crazy.
He wanted some of the materials he saw me handing out to others.
Oh, and his wife died a couple of years ago. It just seemed like he was going through a lot.
Please say a prayer for Tyler. All we have to do is be available. And if we are, then God will continually put the “Tylers” of the world in our paths.
Until the nets are full,
P.S. One good friend of the ministry is working hard as he goes to the frontlines on college campuses to engage the students. He has some wild stories to tell of his encounters.
Don included the following comments with these pictures:
So I asked the protester, “Why do you have a sign that says get a vasectomy? Are you telling men what to do with their bodies? Why not have a sign that says, ‘Get your tubes tied.’”
She responded with silence because reason and logic are not something college students tend to have. We are in Visalia, which is just south of Fresno. The common question yesterday was, “What’s the difference between humans and animals?” WE WERE CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF GOD.
