TURN

Sep 1, 2013

Driving back to various airports after my speaking engagements always proves to be an adventure during my travels. Not everything is laid out too clearly and in a lot of cases, a few more signs sure would help out and make things simpler!

So as I was trying to get to the San Francisco airport, I came up to a light and needed to make a U-Turn. Well of course there was a ‘No U-Turn’ sign. So I took a left and thought I would just make a U-Turn at the next light, but you guessed it, there was a ‘No U-Turn’ sign there, too! So after some initial frustration with why there are so many ‘No U-Turn’ signs in California, I was finally able to navigate my way to the airport.

2 Corinthians 3:13-18:

“And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

One of the more amazing yet frustrating things you begin to realize about people as you get out there and witness is that they have a very simple thing to do. All they have to do in life is turn toward Jesus. If they will turn toward Christ, things will begin to change for them.

So why is something that is so simple, seemingly so difficult for the people around us? What is holding them back from making the proper turn toward the Lord?

As I am sitting here on a plane flight home, there is a lot going on around me. I see people reading their Kindles and playing games on their iPads. Many people have headphones on or ear buds in listening to something. There are lots of empty food containers with some empty Heineken cans and some Bacardi bottles to boot. Some people have their TVs on catching the latest sports or a movie.

The things of the world have enraptured us. They have captivated our attention, and it is like we cannot see past them. We are preoccupied with the things of this life, and we can’t see past them. We don’t realize we are rushing toward eternity, and all we have to do is turn toward the Lord and everything will be just fine.

We just left the San Francisco airport. There was a plane crash there recently. People were just coming to America to visit, and three people entered eternity. You might think people would be wrestling with where they would spend eternity, but it looks like so many have been tricked by the enemy and lulled to sleep by the cares of this life.

Ezekiel 33:11:

“Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”

Ezekiel 33: 19:

“But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.”

Acts 26:18-20:

“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.”

1 Thessalonians 1:9:

“For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;”

Revelation 1:12:

“And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;”

What is amazing is that all people have to do is listen to the voice of the Lord and turn, and they will be just fine.

Are you pointing people to the cross? Are you giving them great information to help them make the right turn? Are you giving them enough signs through conversations, tracts, booklets, and books that they can turn and head in the right direction?

Remember, every single person on planet earth has the ability and responsibility to turn toward God. They will have no excuses when they die. It is our job to give them the right information, so they can make the right decision to make the right turn.

There are no U-Turns when we die. People who die and go to hell can’t make a U-Turn and get out of there. People who die and go to heaven can’t do a U-Turn and go back to earth and relive their lives again. If any of you out there need to make a turn in your life to live for Christ on the narrow road, or instruct others on how to make that turn and get off the broad road that leads to destruction, today seems like a great day to do just that.

Until the nets are full,
