Truth and Consequences

God is so good to warn us about the consequences of sin, but are we listening? One hairdresser stepped boldly into the opportunity God plopped in her chair, without a clue who she was warning. Not long afterward, her client altered the course of several people’s lives, including his own, leaving this stylist, Virginia, with the burden to pray for his soul.

Hi Mark!

Recently, I opened my own hair salon. It is just me, and I love it. I have your tracts on my reception desk with a little note saying, “Please Take One.”

I want to share a story about a client I had in my chair about two years ago. He was a walk-in, so I had not cut his hair before. I could tell it was going to be interesting. Let’s just say he was very forward. I point-blank told him I was married and a Christian woman. He asked me if I liked some band. I said I did not listen to music like that. He proceeded to say, “Well, I’m going to Hell.” That comment just opened the door wide for witnessing.

At the end of the haircut, I went through the gospel with him. Then I gave him a tract, and he left. I thought he would never come back, but the next month, he came in again for another haircut. He told me he had been to the bike rally in Sturgis, and a man came up to him, gave him a tract, and told him the same thing I had told him! I shared with him again. Then the next time he came in, he said his daughter had him going to church in Sioux Falls. He drove every Sunday from Yankton to go with his daughter and family. He said it seemed like the pastor was talking directly to him. YET . . . he was still not saved.

Last spring, he was arrested, and he is just now going to trial here in Yankton. I am pretty sure he will get life in prison and be sent to the state pen in Sioux Falls. He killed his girlfriend. This has been such a big topic of conversation. I tell people that Steve can still be saved—IN PRISON—and God can still use him there. Pray for Steve.

Thanks again, Mark, for all your work for the Lord. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless your ministry and give you strength and good health as you labor for Him.

Jude 23

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

1 Timothy 1:15

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Genesis 4:6,7

And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Sin is crouching at the door of many people. Too often, they don’t heed the warnings until it’s too late. Everyone needs the grace and mercy of the Lord, especially those who have fallen into a pit of trouble. Jesus is in the business of saving sinners like you, me, and the man Virginia witnessed to. Pray for Steve. Jesus is able to save anyone who repents and believes. He is able to give them a whole new life!

P.S. So are you giving your life to the Lord? How about your business? Virginia could make millions cutting hair, but nothing compares to the eternal rewards she will have for all the souls she has touched in her salon chair. How about you? Remember, don’t waste your life. Make it count. You’ll be glad you did when you in stand in front of God on Judgment Day!
