One reason why God has breathed His Word into existence is so that we will live wisely. It’s been said that wisdom is “biblical truth applied.” When we know the Word of God, obey it, and live by it, it leads to a heart of wisdom.
But the world wants to press us into its mold instead. It wants us to live by its principles and beliefs rather than by Truth:
Romans 1:22
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
1 Corinthians 1:19,20
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:24,30
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. . . .But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Psalm 90:12
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Everyone needs God’s Word to live correctly. Everyone needs wisdom, or we won’t stand a chance against the enemies of God. We need all the godly wisdom we can get for the days ahead.
Until the Nets are Full,
P.S. The feedback we received about Monday’s newsletter “Watch God Behave” (https://markcahill.org/watch-god-behave/), where we covered some of the statements made by Dave Ramsey, was interesting. Some comments were positive, some were not so positive, but this comment really drove the main point home. What perspective. And, this is the lady who was mentioned in the newsletter. She has a real heart for the Lord and for the lost!
If anybody needs to “Watch God Behave” they need to take a look at Calvary. Moses couldn’t even look at Him! Wow! “Cutsey” don’t get it when talking about the Creator of Heaven and Earth! These people who can get to careless with the gospel when they “make it” are not good examples for the Good God Who has blessed them with the privilege to speak for Him. It is a privilege and an honor for Him to give us anything, let alone great influence, and we abuse it. We need to watch our behavior; God does not have a problem with His! In Jesus, Because of Jesus I know three things: life is not futile, failure is not fatal, and death is not final! |
