Plank in Your Eye

Mar 20, 2017

Romans 2:1-4

Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Verses like these make us stop and examine ourselves. Is our life tightened up like it should be? Do we have a plank in our eye when we see a spec in someone else’s eye? This is why truth is so very important. It brings us back to reality. Reality is a good thing, but our perception of reality needs to be based on truth.

The goodness of God wants you to repent and change your thought and willfulness toward sin. It really should be called the greatness of God! The God of the Bible is rich in mercy. Never forget that, and apply it to others as you journey through your life because you and I very much need that mercy as well.
