Another Perspective – Part 2

On Monday, we started a two-part series about Charlie Kirk. A lot of news has come out about him since that tragic day. One of the things being discussed is his possible move toward Catholicism. If you missed the things we discussed in Part 1, you can find them here:

Catholic Teachings
If Charlie had publicly announced that he had converted to Catholicism, he would have immediately walked away from the authority of the Holy Scripture. How do I know that to be true? You just have to know what Catholics believe and teach.
Catholic Catechism: Paragraph 80
“Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture, then, are bound closely together and communicate one with the other. For both of them, flowing out from the same divine well-spring, come together in some fashion to form one thing and move towards the same goal. Each of them makes present and fruitful in the Church the mystery of Christ, who promised to remain with his own ‘always, to the close of the age.'”
Catholic Catechism: Paragraph 81
“Sacred Scripture is the speech of God as it is put down in writing under the breath of the Holy Spirit. And [Holy] Tradition transmits in its entirety the Word of God which has been entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit.”
Catholic Catechism: Paragraph 82
“As a result the Church, to whom the transmission and interpretation of Revelation is entrusted, does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from the holy Scriptures alone. Both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honored with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence.”
Catholic Catechism: Paragraph 97
“Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture make up a single sacred deposit of the Word of God, which is entrusted to the Church.”
The Council of Trent: Fourth Session
“The sacred and holy, ecumenical, and general Synod of Trent… receiving all the books of the Old and New Testament… and also the traditions, as well those appertaining to faith as to morals, as having been dictated either by Christ’s own word of mouth, or by the Holy Ghost, and preserved in the Catholic Church by a continuous succession, it preserves in its integrity the deposit of faith.”
Who’s in Charge?
The authority of the Word of God is one of the major dividing lines between Catholics and Protestants. That line cannot be breached. If it is, then the floodgates of error will be opened. Either the Holy Bible is our plumb line of truth, or it is not. There are only two choices here: either it is, or it isn’t.
I can’t even begin to explain how important this issue is. We either have eternal truth in our hands as I read my KJV Bible, or I do not.
Mark 7:7-9
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Mark 7:13
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
God warns us over and over again about the traditions of men. But do we heed His warnings?
Granting Salvation
Let’s look at what the Catholic Church teaches about salvation:
CCC 846: “How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Reformulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body: ‘Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.’”
In the following quote from Catholicism.org, we see reinforced again the Catholic teaching that there is no salvation apart from the Catholic Church.
“Three infallible statements from the Church assure us that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church:”

The Roman Catholic Church does not believe Charlie is in heaven. Did you catch that? That is what they believe and have taught for centuries. The Roman Catholic Church and Bible-believing Christianity are not the same and never will be the same.
Single- or Double-Minded?
A statement that a lot of people make is, “Ecumenism always leads to Rome.” At Charlie’s events, he had evangelical Christians, Roman Catholics, New Apostolic Reformation followers, atheists, etc., speak. I watched a video where he effusively praised Mormons. He wanted them to get out and vote. No. Mormons need to come to the true biblical Jesus. How they voted won’t help them on Judgment Day. There is always a danger when you start blending politics and religions together. Your guard to protect others from false teachings never moves up but always moves down.

James 1:8
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Double-minded means “divided in mind.” It describes someone who is torn between different beliefs or different belief systems. What it really does is put your feet on a foundation of sand and not on rock.
Was Charlie double-minded between the Bible and the Roman Catholic Church? Did he think he could remain a Christian while going into Catholicism and just explain it away by choosing which doctrines to embrace or re-define and which ones to reject? Was Charlie also double-minded between his faith and politics?

Christians should be involved in all aspects of life, unless it is out-and-out sin. Yes, Christians should be involved in politics.
But I have seen something through the years. It is the dreaded word “compromise.” We have donors for campaigns. We have donors for political action committees. We have donors for churches. And, many times, donors want something for their donations. They want some kind of return on their investment. And that is where the compromise can happen.
Also, if I want someone to vote a certain way, I cannot offend them. If I do, I might lose their vote. But isn’t there something much more important in life than one’s vote?
The Offense of the Cross
The cross by definition is offensive. It is okay to offend people with truth. As a matter of fact, it is what you do when you share truth.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
David Cloud of Way of Life Ministries wrote the following in one of his recent newsletters:
“TPUSA Faith exists to unite the Church around primary doctrine…”
The doctrinal platform is so narrow, in fact, it encompasses the Roman Catholic Church.
“Kirk’s wife is Catholic and for the last few months of his life he had been attending Mass with her” (“Charlie Kirk and the Catholic Church,” The American Catholic, Sept. 14, 2025). Erika Kirk was educated at Notre Dame Preparatory High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Catholic News Agency said, “Charlie Kirk was ‘this close’ to becoming Catholic” (Sept. 19, 2025). There is a photo online of him attending mass (“Charlie Kirk showed deep respect toward Catholic faith,” Catholic Vote, Sept. 11, 2025). The Catholic mass is a heretical abomination whereby the blessed wafer, the host, allegedly becomes the actual body and blood of Jesus Christ by the instrumentality of the priestly ritual. The host is kept in a tabernacle or a monstrance and worshiped as Christ. The mass is called “a re-sacrifice of Christ” by the Second Vatican Council. “For in it Christ perpetuates in an unbloody manner the sacrifice offered on the cross, offering himself to the Father for the world’s salvation through the ministry of priests” (Vatican Council II, The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Instruction on the Worship of the Eucharistic Mystery, Introduction, C 1, 2). Kirk wore a “Saint Michael the Archangel Pendant,” which is now worn by Erika (Breitbart, Sept. 21, 2025). Charlie was associated with Dream City Church in Phoenix, a rock & roll congregation that is part of the Assemblies of God, a Pentecostal denomination that believes a born-again child of God can lose his salvation, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is an experience to be sought subsequent to salvation and is evidenced by tongues speaking, and physical healing is promised because of Christ’s atonement. Charlie allowed for theistic evolution and the days of Genesis as long ages
(“Charlie Kirk educating Bible haters,” Daily Dose of Wisdom, YouTube).” https://www.wayoflife.org/pdf/fcnn-26-39.pdf
Charlie was very, very ecumenical. He mentioned that numerous times. He had good things to say about Mormonism, Catholicism, the New Apostolic Reformation, etc. This begs some questions: Why wouldn’t he critique those groups? Why wouldn’t he say they have a false Jesus? Isn’t the Jesus of the Bible supposed to be the number one focus of our lives, and then everything flows through that lens?
Rightly Dividing Truth
One thing we must have in our journey with Jesus and as our feet walk this earth is discernment. We must be able to discern between truth and error. Once we know the truth, we need to stand up for it. Once we know where there is error, we need to call it out and help folks come out of it and come to the truth.
2 Timothy 1:13
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 2:15,16
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2 Timothy 4:1-4
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
As we wind down toward the end, one thing Satan wants is a compromised Christian faith. Don’t give him what he wants.
Grieving Over Compromise
Sometimes in life, we run into an inconvenient truth. We run into something we really didn’t want to find out. As I was looking into Charlie’s assassination and life, I had no clue at all that I was going to run into all of this information about Catholicism. I actually found it rather shocking. But when you search things out, you have to follow where the evidence leads.
But I really think there is a huge lesson for all of us here. And it is a term called flirting. If you flirt with a false teaching, don’t be surprised when Satan gains a foothold in your life that just might become a stronghold. If you flirt with a false belief system, don’t be surprised if you find yourself eventually leaving the faith.
I ask people all the time, when they are in a false teaching or have left the faith, “How did it happen?” When I meet someone who told me they were a Christian and now they don’t believe in God or the Bible, I ask, “How did you become an atheist?” Many have told me that they were reading a book or watching a video by Christopher Hitchens or Richard Dawkins and that was how they started the journey to atheism. Flirting.
I will ask people, “How did you become a Calvinist?” They will tell me that they read a book by or watched a video of Pink, Spurgeon, MacArthur, Piper, Sproul, etc. Flirting.
Just some thoughts. You don’t have to agree with me on this. That is fine. I actually hope I am wrong. Like 1,000% wrong. But this is really a warning to all of us; we must be careful who we yoke ourselves with in relationships, business, and ministry. I like to look at the big picture. But sometimes, there is a much bigger picture going on than any of us can imagine
One day closer.
