Magnetic

Jul 21, 2025

Well, I may not have a magnetic personality, but I did seem to be a magnet for trouble when I was young. And I for sure didn’t go to a “magnet” school!

I really like bumper stickers. I don’t have any on my car, but I read them on other cars all the time. I don’t know how other people drive, but I am always reading people’s stickers as I drive down the road. You can learn so much about that driver just by reading his or her bumper!

If I see someone in a parking lot getting out of their car and they have a bumper sticker, I will use it as a way to get into a spiritual conversation with them.

Some of the most popular bumper stickers we see today are “Baby on Board,” “Coexist,” “My Child is an Honor Student,” “If You Can Read This, You Are Too Close,” and, of course, “Student Driver”!!

I am also seeing more and more folks promoting their businesses with a magnet on the side of their car, or with a wrap on their car.

I thought about doing a wrap on my car, but that can be a tad expensive. So I decided to get some magnets for my car instead.

Putting these magnets on my car is one of the best things I have ever done. If people can promote their causes on their cars, so can we!

I came out of a restaurant and saw a family looking at my vehicle. I walked over and started chatting with them. They said, “Great message!” They were from Colombia, and I was able to give them some Spanish materials. They were very grateful.

I went to a certain park that is pretty busy on Saturday mornings. I drove around slowly, so people could read the magnets. I find myself driving a lot slower nowadays!

One police officer was on my driver’s side. She was looking at my car. When I slowly turned right, she started looking at the back of my car. I know she was reading the magnet below my window.

Then I looked through my side view mirror, and she kept staring and staring at my car. I pray that God will have the right people read those magnets and that the Holy Spirit will hit their hearts with those messages.

Also, I am beginning to like traffic! Okay, that might have been an exaggeration. But when I am sitting in traffic, people have plenty of time to read the messages. And I am also finding that I honk my horn a whole lot less!

Today, I had my first thumbs up from a guy! He kept looking at my car on the highway and rolled down his window to let me know how much he liked the magnets.

I saw a picture from the Glastonbury music festival where the audience was holding up flags:

It is very typical at that festival for concertgoers to have goofy flags for the artists, etc. But this year, some of the bands took an anti-Semitic turn. The crowd must have been ready for it because they already had their Palestinian flags ready to wave!

But it made me think: Why do some people who stand for secular or religious causes seem to be bolder than I am at times when it comes to Jesus? It should not be that way.

Psalm 20:5

We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.

We should fly our banners for Jesus proudly and plant our flags, so people know where we stand. The messages on these magnets help me do that.

I picked up these magnets at https://g10america.com/. They are very inexpensive, and they have many options to choose from.

Keep using your mouth to glorify our Lord. Keep handing out tracts, booklets, and books to folks. And keep flying your banners very high for the God who loves all people enough to die for all of their sins!

Until the nets are full,

P.S. Yes, I know my car is a little dirty! I was hoping one of you would volunteer to detail it for me!!

P.P.S. A friend of mine was traveling and saw this car. She went over and read everything that was on it! Advertising works. That is why billions are spent on it each year. Shouldn’t we be bold like these folks were?

P.P.P.S. I was talking with a guy at a gas station. I started chatting with him. He pointed to my car and said, “That must be your car!!” He had seen the magnets. I told him that I see people promoting their favorite sports team or their cause, so I thought I should do the same. He said, “And that message (meaning the message on the magnets) is much more important than all of the other worldly messages!” God is good!!
