____________
It is written, and it is read by you and me.
If you think about it, it is really kind of simple: God wrote the Word, and we read the Word. God has made sure that we have Holy Writ available to us in 2024 and our job is to read and heed it. Read and obey it. Soak our minds with the Word of God. Share it with the lost. Encourage the believer. Stand strong. Develop a steeled up biblical backbone and never back up.
If you read three and a half chapters of your Bible each day, you will read the entire Bible this coming year. That really isn’t asking much. We should be reading more than that. I was telling some friends at a Bible study that all of us need to know our Bibles better. There are plenty of Bible-reading plans out there that can help you go through the Bible in the next 12 months.
The year before us in 2024 is going to be momentous. More than likely, it will be another crazy year. But Jesus is our Rock, and the Word of God has stood the test of time. Base your year on those two truths, and you will be just fine. And don’t be surprised if God doesn’t use you in a mighty way this coming year!
Until the nets are full,
P.S. I handed a waitress I had a booklet, tract, and a blessing. She said, “Where do you go to church?” She let me know that she had not been in church in eight years. The day her mom died, she stopped going. We talked about her mother’s salvation. It seemed like mom was soundly saved. I then said, ‘If you could talk to mom right now, what do you think she would say?” “Get back in church,” she responded. I let her know that her mom would probably tell her, “Jesus is more real than I ever imagined. Honey, it is time to make sure you are born again; serving Jesus; attending a solid, bible-believing church; and I will see you real soon!” Keep planting seeds. You never know who you might meet.
