A few weeks ago, I got into a conversation with a guy at the gas station. We started talking. He had a really friendly way about him. He seemed to be in his mid-twenties. As we were talking, his mom popped out of the car. He and I kept talking and eventually began discussing more important matters: you know, the good stuff, like God, eternity, and Jesus.
Then his mom piped up and asked, “Do you write books?” I responded, “I do.” She wanted to know if I had written a book with the word “heartbeat” in the title. Her son added, “Yes, with a black cover and a flat line symbol on it?” So, I went over to my car, picked up a copy of One Heartbeat Away, walked back over, and showed it to them. Both of their faces lit up as they remarked, “We have that book!”
We all continued to talk, and she let me know that she used to work at Whole Foods in a different part of town. Every now and then, I stopped in there to pick up some food. I would also talk with the workers and give them something to read, along with giving them a blessing. She said that I had given her the book sometime in the past. As she was contemplating when that occurred, she remembered it was back in 2015!!! Seven years ago. Wow! What a conversation we had after she figured that out.
She also asked if I would pray for her and her son. They love being born again and know that Heaven is going to be crazy good, but they wanted me to pray for them to do more for the Lord down here now, just as I want to do as well. What a neat time of prayer we had standing next to a gas pump!
Mark 4:26,27
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
