I was out reading my Bible at Stone Mountain Park one day, when a truck pulled up next to me. The driver was one of the workers at the Park. I had witnessed to him and some of his friends a few months earlier and given them some books.
As we started to converse, he asked some questions about Jesus. So I finally asked, You don’t believe Jesus is God, do you?
We live in interesting times. The denigration of Christianity is at an all-time high. But make no mistake: Without Jesus, there is no such thing as Christianity. It doesn’t exist without Him. So the denigration you are seeing really has nothing to do with Christianity, and everything to do with Jesus. They are denigrating Him. They are trying to destroy Him. Because deep down, many are hoping He is not real. That He is not really God. That He did not really die on the cross for their sins. Why? Because then they won’t have to answer to Him when they die. They can eat, drink, and be merry, for today we live, and tomorrow we die and whatever happens, happens. And it will be okay, because I am a good person.
When the day finally comes that there is no longer a Mark Cahill Ministries, remember we had a few goals through the years. One of those goals was to point you to one place and one place only; to find the answers for this life and the life to come. Where is that? And of course, you should know the answer by now! It is God’s Holy Spirit, His beautiful Scriptures, The Answer Book of Life, the Holy Bible!
John 5:8-18
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
John 10:27-33
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
A proper reading of the Scriptures makes things clear as a bell. The Bible claims nothing less than Jesus is God. It’s that simple. So either you believe the Bible to be true or not. Either you believe Jesus is God, or you do not.
I have been doing some reading and studying about Nazi Germany lately. One quote from Hitler was: Man is becoming God–that is the simple fact. Man is God in the making.(http://www.newswithviews.com/Collins/phillip2.htm)
Friedrich Nietzsche, the German Philosopher said: God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?(http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/22827-god-is-dead-god-remains-dead-and-we-have-killed)
Looking back at history, it sure seems that Nietzsche had a pretty profound influence on Adolf Hitler. One thing I keep reminding people is to be careful what you read. Test everything and everybody against God’s Holy Infallible Word.
God is not dead. He is alive and well! He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You will be meeting Him very, very soon. Will it be a good meeting or an eternally awful meeting?
Mark 12:27
He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Luke 20:38
For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
So, as many people around the world celebrate the babe in the manger, remember that isn’t just a baby. That is God Himself! People may adore the baby who lays no claim on their lives, but will they worship the King of Kings who is worthy of their entire lives? He came to visit and provide the way of salvation, and we should be very, very thankful for that!
It makes me wonder, though, what untruths about Jesus await us in 2014? How will they continue to denigrate His name? It’s time to stand strong on who Jesus is. No time to back up, but high time to step up. Enjoy Him this year and continue to fight for Him next year. Jesus is God, and it is time to let the whole world know that!!
