Shane is a firefighter who loves the Lord. How do firefighting and loving the Lord go together? You witness to the other firefighters you work with, like Shane does! He sent us this great story that shows the fruit from him having done just that:
Hi Mark,
I was looking through some pictures today and came across this one. It’s from probably 12 years ago or so. I gave everyone at my fire station a copy of One Heartbeat Away for Christmas one time. A few years later, I transferred out of that station but then came back another time to work overtime. I found a copy of your book in a bunk with this note inside. It is NOT my handwriting, however, but it is TRUE. The guys were trying to ridicule me for speaking truth.
I believe John ended up becoming saved from several of our conversations. Apparently, he had some health problems, and our best guess is his meds got messed up, and that’s why he committed suicide a couple of years ago. From this, I know that at least two people had the opportunity to read your book, and many others saw it lying there and had the opportunity to read it, too. You’ve blessed me and many in my department with your materials that they received through me.

Remember that folks may mock you down here, but they won’t be mocking you on the other side. Whether they wind up in Heaven or in Hell, they will be thankful that you witnessed to them.

P.P.S. Not everyone scoffs at the truth. Others might doubt, until they find themselves in circumstances that open their ears to truth.
