What gets you excited? Finally making that sale? Finally passing that calculus class so you never have to take it AGAIN? Finally hitting the weight that you’ve wanted to see on the scale? Finally hitting your PR (personal record) for your bench press weight?
As Christians, what do we show excitement for? Do we show excitement for the same things that the world does, or are we different?

I get it. I used to be an athlete. There is NOTHING like accomplishing one of your goals. You really want all of the crazy hours you put in, the sweat, and the hard work to pay off. And when it does, it is a very satisfying feeling.
Let me ask you this: How excited does one get when a friend finally gets saved? Do we get up and dance and shout for joy? Let me ask you this: If one of those guys teammates got saved, would there be as much excitement in the room as we saw in that video? I think we know the answer.
If a friend is finally able to overcome that sin by the power of the Holy Spirit, how much excitement do we show for that?
Or has the Christian world become so much like the secular world that we celebrate all of the things they do and in just the same way?
For some odd reason, our culture puts sports teams and sports stars on pedestals. It has created a system of idol worship that is not good. Much of sports is really just people playing with a ball. Makes you wonder what is really driving all of the fan hysteria.  All idols will fall one day. Shouldn’t we as Christians be teaching the next set of folks coming behind us to run the race for the eternal prizes and not the temporary prizes?
1 Timothy 4:8
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
Just some thoughts.
Until the nets are full,
