A Lot Can Change in a Day

Nov 8, 2024

Have there been times in your life when maybe you kind of wished you didn’t wake up? Do we all have days like that?

I was talking with a guy, Darrel, at a Laundromat. His parents took a vacation. They got into a taxi, and the taxi driver had a stroke. The driver and his dad both died. His dad was his best friend. He is still struggling with all of that.

A lot can change in a day.

A friend of the ministry bought a home. What the seller didn’t disclose and the inspector didn’t see was that it was infested with mold. He had to move his wife and three kids into a 400-square-foot mobile home. Please say a prayer for him and his family.

A lot can change in a day.

One of my brothers lives in the Tampa area. Three of his friends lost their homes during one of the hurricanes. Two of his friends had moved to Asheville, NC, and both of them lost their homes. He knows of five people who lost their homes during Hurricane Helene. Can you imagine having a house one day and not the next?

A lot can change in a day.

Luke 23:32,33

And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

Some people wake up in prison or jail. Some people wake up, and it is execution day. They know their life is coming to an end. A couple of thieves, in the society they lived in, did something that got them nailed to a cross.

Luke 23:39-42

And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

There are a lot of ways to exit this life and head over to the other side. You can be bitter and angry, or you can be forgiving and merciful. You can do a reassessment of your life if you are allowed to have a slow death—a death-bed experience, so to speak.

While on the cross, one thief was mocking, and the other one realized what was really going on around them. He knew they were reaping the reward for their deeds. All of us will.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

As we know, in life, certain people can do certain things for you and others cannot. You have to go to the right person to get a certain job done.

Luke 23:43

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Paradise only has one ticket to get there. And it must be stamped in the blood of Jesus Christ. You have to ask for it. And He can’t wait to give it to you!!

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Leviticus 14:25

And he shall kill the lamb of the trespass offering, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot:

Can you imagine what would be going through your mind if you knew that today was your day to be executed? I wonder what kind of dread it would bring to others if they knew it was their day to die as well.

A lot can change in a day.

What if the “State” placed you to die right next to the One Person who, truthfully, has the answers for this life and the life to come? Then it would be your turn to decide to humble yourself and ask for forgiveness or not.

A cross, Jesus, death, and Paradise, all in one day. As we like to say, a lot can change in a day!!

Until the nets are full,

P.S. As I was just finishing up this newsletter, I got a phone call. Travis dialed me up. He heard me speak in Canada about ten years ago. He let me know that he was Jesus! I talked to him about a few different things, but during the conversation, I brought up the thief on the cross and said, “How could you be Jesus, Travis, if Jesus took the thief on the cross to Paradise 2,000 years ago? Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse us of our sins. Did you die on a cross for the sins of the world, Travis?” He let me know that he hasn’t done that yet. Deception is real. Why? Because the Deceiver is real. A lot can change in ten years, and a lot can change in a day. Please say a prayer for Travis.

P.P.S. Handing out our new tracts can be as simple as popping into an eclectic pizza place for a few minutes, especially if they’re not busy and have more time to talk. Remember to carry tracts into some of the interesting nooks and crannies of your town and reach those people for Christ! Keep planting seeds!!

P.P.S. We need to stand firm and be ready for whatever pops up in your day. I was just finishing up this newsletter when I got a phone call from Travis.
