When you pop into various restaurants and coffee shops, you really can have a lot of fun talking to people. You never know who the Lord will put in your path. This was the case for me a few weeks ago, which we discussed in Part 1 of this newsletter. Also in Part 1, we began comparing and contrasting Catholicism against the truth of biblical Christianity. We pick back up with those comparisons in today’s follow up newsletter.

If you missed Part 1, you can read it here:

To continue with our comparison and contrast of the Catholic catechism with the Bible, we pick back up below, beginning with our third point.

Comparing False Doctrine with Truth

#3 Rituals versus Faith

CCC  1129 — “The Church affirms that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation.

‘Sacramental grace’ is the grace of the Holy Spirit, given by Christ and proper to each sacrament.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:

it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 3:28

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith

without the deeds of the law.

#4 Is Baptism Necessary for Salvation?

CCC 1257 — “The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. . . .

The Church does not know of any means other than Baptism that assures entry into eternal beatitude.”

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe

in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Acts 16:31

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,

and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

#5 The Law versus Faith

CCC 2068 — “The Council of Trent teaches that the Ten Commandments are obligatory for Christians and that the justified man is still
bound to keep them;
the Second Vatican Council confirms: ‘The bishops, successors of the apostles, receive from the Lord . . .
the mission of teaching all peoples,
and of preaching the Gospel to every creature, so that all men may attain salvation through faith,
Baptism and the observance of the Commandments.'”

Galatians 2:16

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ,

even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ,

and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Romans 3:20

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight:

for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

#6 Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

CCC 841 — “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator,

in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham,

and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

John 14:6

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name

under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 9:7

Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham,

are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

#7 Celibacy versus Marriage

CCC 1579 — “All the ordained ministers of the Latin Church, with the exception of permanent deacons,

are normally chosen from among men of faith who live a celibate life

and who intend to remain celibate ‘for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.'”

1 Timothy 3:2

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober,

of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1 Timothy 3:4-5

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection

with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house,

how shall he take care of the church of God?)

#8 Was Mary Sinless?

CCC 966 — “‘Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished,

was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more
fully conformed to her Son,
the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death.’ The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin
is a singular participation
in her Son’s Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians.”

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

1 Corinthians 15:22-23

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order:

Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

Speak Up and Say Something

Always remember to TETE: Test Everything, and Test Everybody with any information you get from AI. We also list a comparison chart between Roman Catholicism and the Bible in our book Paradise on pages 86-92. One of the characters in the book is trying to figure out the differences between the two.

As you can tell, we have a small problem. Catholicism and biblical Christianity are very, very different. They do not teach the same things. Not even close. But since similar “words” are used, people think the two belief systems are under the same umbrella. They are not.

Many times, when I spoke up in the Northeast, I would ask the audience how many of them were former Catholics. Sometimes over 50 percent of the hands went up! They knew Roman Catholicism is not the same as or even close to biblical Christianity.

So Gia and I talked about what happened after I left the restaurant the first time. And then, right toward the end, I said, “If what I said was wrong, why didn’t they say anything when I sat there chatting with you?” Oh my. If you could have seen Gia’s face. His face lit up, and his eyes got very big. He let me know that I was right. If those guys sat there for part of our discussion and they knew I was wrong about eternity, etc., and they didn’t care enough to butt in or correct what I said, then what kind of people were they? They definitely were not people who cared. I guarantee that if I am sitting next to a conversation like that, I am very happily butting in and giving my biblical two cents!

Please say a prayer for Britt, Gia, Najee, Dove, and some others who I have met at that establishment.

But remember, Gia understood that you can’t let people right by you give wrong answers. You should speak up and say something.

People on the wide path have the wrong answer. It is time for you to speak up and to speak to someone today about the truths of what Jesus has done for them.

Until the nets are full,

P.S. Pope Francis to children in Singapore: “All religions are paths to reach God. They are—to make a comparison—like different languages, different dialects, to get there. But God is God for everyone. If you start to fight saying ‘my religion is more important than yours, mine is true and yours isn’t,’ where will this lead us? There is only one God, and each of us has a language to arrive at God. Some are Sheik, Muslim, Hindu, Christians; they are different ways to God.” https://x.com/CatholicSat/status/1834544835060994073?lang=en
