Eternity is rushing towards us.
You and everyone else must be ready.

Popular in Prison

Jun 18, 2024

Well, I got hungry again. Seems to be a consistent theme with me! I just wanted some quick food since I was trying to get some things done.

As I pulled up to the drive-thru, I noticed an outside table with three people sitting at it. I rolled down my window and asked if they were hungry. What I didn’t know was that they were hungry for eternal truth as well!

We got to talking, and I gave them some materials. The two guys said they really liked to read. So, I gave David One Heartbeat Away, and Felix got Paradise. I explained that I had written both of them. Felix said, “You wrote this?” I said that I did. Then he let me know that he had read a few of my books. I asked, “Where did you get them?” He answered, “You are very popular in prison!”

Well, well, well. I guess it is time to scratch that item off my bucket list. You probably have the same thing on your list as well: Popular in Prison! My life is now complete!

We ended up having a great conversation. Eventually, a car drove around me because I was partially blocking the drive-thru!

One thing I tell ex-prisoners as well as inmates is that Jesus will not be asking if they went to jail while they were here on earth. Not a big deal to Him. Why? He was arrested, and so were many of His followers! That is no big deal to Him. You should see how that puts an ex-inmate at ease. I let inmates know that the key is whether or not they have received forgiveness for whatever they did that landed them in a jail cell. And, from there, it is usually a very easy conversation.

Matthew 25:43

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

It’s time to visit someone in prison that you might know. Or maybe it’s time to send some materials to those who are incarcerated. And for sure, go witness to someone today before they ever get behind the barbed wire.

Until the nets are full,

P.S. I have now heard from two different people who said that, in some prisons, they are giving the inmates iPads to use. This is not good. One of them that I was talking with said the inmates can only use the iPads in certain areas of the prison and cannot take them back to their cells. As I have chatted with folks about this, some think this is how books might be eliminated from prisons altogether. If that day comes, it will be bad, bad news for soul-winners.

The time is now to put good Christian literature in these prisons. Call your local prison and ask how you can have materials sent to the prison’s chaplain. This is very important. We need to flood these institutions with eternal truth right away.

Good materials can be found at www.thebereancall.org and at www.wayoflife.org.

P.P.S. Coincidentally, our fiction books are still discounted from $45 for three books to $20 for three books! That’s a good deal where I come from. I like to refer to them as realistic novels because they are based on real places and give real information to provide real answers for some of the real issues we face in our lives today.
