Here at the ministry, we have just undertaken our largest project ever. We work with a group called Prison Book Project. They get our materials into the hands of chaplains, prisoners, and military personnel all across America and even into some areas overseas. They always ask for more books! The neat thing is that prisoners write to them and request our books by name. That is pretty cool. So we decided to do a little something on the crazy side.
We made the decision to print and ship Prison Book Project 2,000 of each of our titles. That would be seven books in English and two books in Spanish. Well, I went to Auburn and can do the math. It turned out to be 18,000 books!
That is a lot of books. And when you not only print the books but also ship the books, it adds up to a lot of money pretty quickly!
But aren’t prisoners worth that kind of investment?
Matthew 25:35,36
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
If you have never helped out with prison ministry before, I highly recommend it. Many of these prisons are looking for groups of volunteers to come in and run programs for them. Often, it is churches that conduct sessions for the inmates. Also, sitting around and chatting with inmates can be a real highlight. Many of them just can’t believe that people from the outside would come in and spend time with them.
One thing we can do is provide them with some materials that point them to the cross. Below are some pictures of the books being delivered to Prison Book Project.
What I want to say is, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!” This effort would not have been possible without everyone’s help. When you donate for the products you order or when you just donate to the ministry, it allows us to accomplish projects like this.
Please pray that these books will get to the right institutions and into the right inmates’ hands. And then, on the other side, we will see how God used all of these books.
Thank you.
Until the nets are full,
P.S. To help you reach out to the people you meet in life, many of whom are looking for eternal answers, we have put One Heartbeat Away on special. Sometimes, it’s the title that catches their attention, or maybe someone has been searching for answers. Either way, every person needs to know how to cross over into eternity safely. We have lowered our suggested donation for single One Heartbeat Away books to $8 each. It will help you to plant many, many seeds this summer in your town, church, and with those you meet from day to day. Bundles are $150, and Cases are $350.
