I received a letter from a friend of the ministry earlier this year. I asked Chuck if we could use part of what he wrote in a newsletter, and he said it was fine with him. Here is what he had to say:
We went through some heavy stuff in the last 8 weeks. My dad died in December, 2023. He was 81. I sent him your book, One Heartbeat Away in 2008. I last saw him 9 ½ years ago. He never read it and complained about a neighbor down the road who all they ever wanted to talk about was Christianity. Going through his computer, there were numerous video links for Carl Sagan, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and Richard Dawkins. My dad died in his sins. He is lost forever and separated from God’s goodness and loving kindness for all of eternity. What a tragedy! He’s a confirmed believer now.
Secondly, our oldest daughter (age 32) has Stage 4 cancer and is in hospice care. She has lived a rebellious life, and I hope that she is truly and soundly saved because there is much evidence that says otherwise.
In spite of what I have gone through, by God’s grace and help, I’ve used these trials/circumstances as an icebreaker to share the gospel!! That has been wonderful! God is good! Sure looking forward to going home.

Life is fleeting. It passes by at a very rapid pace. Are you getting people ready for eternity? Are you helping family members, friends, and total strangers to escape Judgment Day? If we want the meeting that folks have with Jesus Christ to go well, then we need to boldly proclaim Him to many. The time to reach them is now. Chuck has done a great job witnessing to his family. We should all do the same.
