Digging Deep

Mar 14, 2019

“I was able to travel to India and asked the church to be praying that I would have the opportunity to witness there. When I asked questions of others during my travels, they enjoyed telling me answers. I am grateful for Ten Questions from the King because it emphasizes the value of queries. Talking with these individuals personally and asking them questions opened the door to sharing the gospel. Thanks for your writing ministry. It helped me immensely.”                                                                                                            — Dan A.

Digging Deep

Can building your life on this precious material keep you standing strong? What is it that other Christians are talking about when it comes to weathering the floods of life?

Please enjoy the following excerpt from Chapter 6 of our newest book to find out.

Ten Questions from the King!

Unmovable Foundation

Jesus is about to clearly explain to the Jews what He means by hearing and doing His sayings. He is going to make it very simple for them so they don’t misunderstand His words. This is the kindness of Jesus coming through. He doesn’t want anyone to miss this point.

Jesus is telling this parable in Galilee, and the Galileans would have been very familiar with the winter runoff and spring rains that caused the rivers to rise and overflow their banks. These floodwaters deposited a mixture of sand and rocks on either side of the channel creating a near-level plain of debris. After the heat baked the floodplain into pavement, someone might be fooled into thinking it was an ideal location for building a house. But when the torrents returned the following spring, the house wouldn’t stand a chance against the heavy slurry of water mixed with gravel that would sweep the valley floor again. The house would collapse because it was built on nothing more than loose ground.

To build a good foundation, you have to dig deep. You want to put those pillars deep down in the ground and anchor them to rock. The deeper they are set, the sturdier the building will be. The World Trade Center buildings were built to withstand a hurricane. The buildings could sway in heavy winds, but they would not topple over. Why? They had the proper foundation. Some buildings in earthquake zones are even built on rollers! Yes, you read that correctly. They roll from side to side when the earth shakes, which prevents the building from collapsing.

Keep in mind that as we serve the Lord, we must dig deep. We need to be in the Scriptures. To be a leader, you have to be a reader! We need to turn off our phones and soak up some good teachings. We need to talk about the things of the Lord with believers. Keep digging deep. There are treasures to be found in the truth of God’s Word that will build us up and help us to reach the lost.

Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:  Isaiah 26:4

Rest assured that God is our strength. God is our Rock. God is the only foundation that will keep us standing strong as we live this life.

That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1 Timothy 6:18,19

When we come to Jesus in spirit and in truth, we are building on the right foundation. Then we want to stack up good and godly works on the foundation of Christ all the days of our lives.

Three people have told me that Ten Questions from the King is their favorite of all seven of my books! Those are some pretty strong words. I kind of like all of my books for different reasons, but books hit people in different ways. Hopefully, this book will encourage you and bless you, just as it did those three folks.

Until the Nets are Full,

P.S. This thought-provoking and motivating book hits the heart of the Christian life. It’s written simply so all ages can easily read it, and it includes questions at the end of each chapter.
