On Monday, we began our three-part series about my witnessing encounters at some of the Beyoncé concert nights last month. Witnessing at various venues, whether for concerts, sporting events, ceremonies, etc., is always exciting, and those nights downtown didn’t disappoint. During the first two nights, different events were going on at two arenas that are right next to each other. There is a good spot to stand between them, which allows you to hand out tracts to people going into either venue.
Night One
On the first night, there was a K-pop group playing at one of the venues. A lady going into that concert said to me, “I am Presbyterian, so I am one of the chosen.” She was implying that she could just enjoy the concert. Incorrect. False doctrine can take you very far down a road that you don’t want to travel on. If you have gone down one of those roads, repent and get back on the narrow path.
Switching Gears
When it gets closer to the starting time for an event, the crowds tend to act a little differently. The alcohol has kicked in for many of them by that point. Some are rushing to get inside so they don’t miss the show. Sometimes, but not always, fewer people will take tracts at that time. That is okay. That’s when you adjust your strategy to reach them.
As the crowds were flowing past, I raised my voice and began to say, “Judgment Day is coming, and Beyoncé cannot help you on that day.” Then I paused for a short moment to see their reactions as they stared at me. Then I would add, “Only Jesus can help you on that day.” You don’t have a lot of time with folks as they are streaming by, so statements like these can be a good way to plant seeds and get them thinking about the bigger picture.
During the pause, some people would say, “Oh, my.” They couldn’t believe I said what I said! Others would say, “You are correct.” But I noticed something, especially on the first night. During that pause, many people just laughed. Some laughed pretty heartily, like it was one big joke. The mocking tone from some of them was really stunning. They have no clue what awaits them once they take their last breath.

How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
Matthew 9:24
He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
You never need to worry about the laughter and mocking because it is coming from some very unhappy people. They are chasing after the wind and getting nothing in return. But the truth is they are not laughing at you; they are mocking the Savior of the World. As I always tell people, “They don’t hate me; they hate Him.” But it is our job to point them to the cross and love them enough to tell them how they can have the same loving relationship with the same loving God that we do.
1 John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Next Monday, we’ll finish up our series about witnessing at these Beyoncé concerts. Having that second venue next to the arena she was in proved to be interesting, haunting, and a bit Satanic. But we want to keep reaching out to all men so that all men can be warned about the judgment to come.
