You always wonder when speaking, is anyone listening? Yes, you can see them sitting there. You see their eyes watching you, but are they really listening? Are they going to put into practice what you are teaching them, or are you just wasting your time on the stage?
Well, wonder no more! I received this neat letter in the mail from Brian. It really encouraged me, and I think it will encourage you as well.
“I think you know that Patti and I attended your seminar in Seaside Heights, NJ, twice! I can’t recall the year, but it was at least 20 years ago. Those seminars and reading your books changed our lives and how we view our Kingdom purposes. We share the Lord with passion and enthusiasm.
“I wrote a book in 2017 called Devotions from Proverbs, and since then, I have started publishing Bible tracts. FYI, I don’t sell them. I give them to people who I know share Jesus.
“The Enjoy Your Free Gift tract was inspired by you and your generous heart. I take my grandsons to a local ice cream store, give the manager $50, and then we sit back and watch the reaction when the manager tells people their ice cream has been paid for, and I hand them one of my tracts.
“The Because I Care tract was designed to put a positive spin on all the Christians who tell others about Jesus. I let the reader know that when people tell them about Jesus, it’s not to earn points, but it’s because they have a sincere desire to see them in Heaven.
“The Life Can Be Hard tract is written as a first-person tract. In it, I share a bit about my life and that we lost our son. My hope is that the reader can see that I understand pain and heartache and that the Holy Spirit will use it to draw many to Himself.
“I share this to say that you are the reason for all of this. (Yes, I know God is the real reason, but your faithfulness in sharing the urgency to witness is worthy of recognition.) To God be the glory!”
Thank you, Mark!

We all need encouragement as we go through life. All of us need it. So, let me give you some encouragement. Yes, people are listening when you speak and witness to them! Brian and his wife are a testimony to that. Hopefully, you are witnessing to enough people and handing out enough tracts that you do not remember all the people you have reached. But remember, they are listening, and they are reading what you give them.
James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
I just got a text from a waiter I met a couple of years ago. I run into him here and there. He wants to meet up and chat. Sure, it didn’t seem like he was listening in our previous encounters, but guess what? He was!
Go talk to someone today, whether it’s one-on-one or with a large or small witnessing group. There is someone listening out there who needs to hear what you have to say!
Until the nets are full,
P.S. I received this email from Ray who commented about another recent newsletter we did, “We Are Not a Serious People” (https://markcahill.org/we-are-not-a-serious-people/). I thought you might like to read what he had to say:
Hey Mark:
Just finished your newsletter, We Are Not a Serious People. I can’t begin to describe how disgusted I was when I watched those two videos of “supposed” pastors defiling the Word of God in their attempt to make some kind of point (what that point was, I know not because it certainly had nothing to do with serving our Risen Savior, or glorifying Jehovah God in any way, shape, or form). But as you and I both know, God warned us in His Word, that these days were coming when men would not endure sound doctrine and would give in to itching ears.
It makes me feel that much more blessed to be in a Bible-teaching and Bible-preaching church. But it was also a call for me to make sure that I represent Christ as a walking, talking “part” of the Church (the body of believers) when I’m out in this lost world! And your newsletter and your personal examples of witnessing are a constant encouragement and blessing to me as I read them and apply the tools you teach to my own witnessing opportunities. Thanks again, brother, for all you do and for your diligence in keeping The Way and The Truth alive in these dark days when too many “so-called” Christians have disregarded The Word for just a word of entertainment and blasphemous nonsense!
Best Regards,
Ray
