John Wesley was an early open-air preacher who took evangelism to the streets and trained laymen to be itinerant preachers. He was gripped with the fate of the lost.
2 Corinthians 5:11
“Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men . . “
As ambassadors of Christ, we have the same calling as evangelists who have gone before us. Like them, we have been commissioned to take the gospel to the highways and byways in life and compel the lost to repent and believe, so they can be saved.
